Hey Craig, do you remember that BATMAN logo that my customer asked me to do on his Les Paul? I wound up making an overlay that he loved so much he wanted more of them
Thankfully I was able to persuade him not to do more. Have you thought of Aquaman?

Wow, one ahead! I just e-mailed everyone on my list to ask for their support. I promissed everyone that I would take them out and I'd treat them to a cold beer!    I know the majority of them are going to want to take me up on that offer too !!! 60 people or so... 5 buck a beer... the expected revenues from that nice set of BRW... I should be o.k. then...

Go gang Go!!!

Has anyone bothered to highlight the empty space immediately following the words Brazilian Rosewood?

Serge, I have a dsl line, and I've found that I can unplug the phone line to the dsl router, restart my computer, and plug the phone line back into the router as the computer is rebooting, and it resets the IP address somehow. The other important thing is to use a browser like Mozilla's Firefox where you can block the cookies easily. Try that! It should work for you.

Jimmy is down in the vote again....

Looks like the competition is more adept at stuffing the ballot boxes than friends of Jimmy.

Something just doesn't seem right or fair about this whole method of choosing the best breed of cat. It sure has nothing to do with the merits of the breed. Seems to me that if this organization wants to be taken seriously, they need to figure out a better way to judge and select on more objective, if not honest methods. I've been just as guilty as others in stuffing the box but it just hit me that what we are doing is cheating.

I wonder how Lance would explain the cat competition to his daughter were she sitting on his lap. Maybe Lance's daughter (as well as our own kids) should be the destinations by which we set our moral compasses.

It has been quite a revelation watching how this competition has progressed. I was wrong and am ashamed of myself.

Now, I think I'll go play golf and try to get this bad taste out of my mouth.

I'm in it for the BRW!! Thanks Don.

I have dial up, but I managed voting around 20 times yesterday. Netscape won't let me, but IE will, if I delete cookies and reconnect the dial up. So, every time I log into the forum, I switch browsers and cast a vote via IE, then go back to Netscape.

I agree with J.J., too. It's certainly not honest voting. But, it's not a "select a cat" competition now, it is a voting competition between two factions that are obviously doing the same thing. Vote and vote often, it's the American way.

JJ, this isn't a "serious" competition here....this is a popularity contest mainly for the purposes of having fun. That's how it's promoted too.

It's not about which breed or which cat is the best, etc. That's all done at cat shows, with judges who carefully examine each cat or kitten according to their breed standard, and then the different breeds against each other based on which ones did best for their breed and class.

This particular vote is supposed to be more like American Idol....a popularity contest. They even tell you that only one vote per IP address is allowed. That's like saying you have to hang up and dial again to vote more. Same thing...they call it the "Kitty Idol Contest" for a very good reason.

Trust me, this is NOT a serious contest.

You should read some of the chatter on the Maine Coon organization chat sites....they're rabid about using special software to hide their IP addresses and stuff.
This isn't shameful, it's unabashed lunacy.

That's a pretty slick trick Don! How do you do that?

I wonder how much a set of BRW toothpicks could be worth? I'd like mine, oh, say about 36 inches long, 5 inches wide and about .100 thick... Those are the long ones for my back teeth...
For my front teeth they would have to be about 8.5 inches wide by 24 inches long and about .100 thick as well. What can I say, I've got a big mouth!

Enough with the cat!!! If he can't win without the cheating that's going on here maybe he doesn't deserve to win. People unplugging their modems so they get a different ip so they can vote multiple time's is cheating.

You think so? Then is it cheating to call more than once for American Idol?
The folks who set up the contest are well aware that people with dial-up connections can vote more than once. Resetting a dsl modem is no different. I typically block most cookies anyway, so to me it's not a big deal. It's not like this particular contest has any importance whatsoever in the real world...

I don't think its cheating to call more then once for american idol because their rules have nothing against it. They charge you for that phone call. I just think it's silly if you waste your time voting multiple times for useless crap like American Idol. I think you are using a loop hole around the voting system on this cat site. No where does it say vote as many times as you like. If they meant that why make it hard and limit votes to one IP?

Well anyway, regardless of how people feel about voting multiple times in a silly Kitty Idol contest, there is good news in that Jimmy has pulled out in fron for the first time since yesterday. He has opened up a nice lead and contines to do well this evening.
I started this thing here on tehe olf, so I'm going to see it through, with or without others.

I really respect JJ's take on this, but being closely tied to crazy cat people (wife...) I understand how trivial this contest really is, but for the breeder it's sort of a notch in the belt.

Rally the Troops! Come on guys! Sit down at those computers and log in a bunch of votes.
We're down over 360 at this point and need to cut into that lead and reduce it as much as possible.
Don't desert the Lil' Fuzzbucket at his hour of greatest need!

Thanks Ron...
It's getting pretty gloomy...down almost 500 now.
We've lost so much steam, and with the seperate section for the off-topics here, we've pretty much lost the OLF guys entirely. Out of sight, out of mind as they say.
It was the OLF guys who put us over the top in the first round, but the MC folks are better organized and have greater numbers than we do.
Life goes on...

Well, Don, I voted ten more times, but if you can't rally the troops it looks pretty bleak.

BTW, how did you get the BRW hidden text to do that? I've never seen that before.
